Apart research and teaching, I am particularly interested in <acronym title="Free/Libre and Open Source Software">FLOSS</acronym>, in popularization of computer science, and in electronics for beginners. I am involved in associations such as <acronym title="Lorraine Data Network">LDN</acronym> and <acronym title="NancY BIdouille Création Construction, which stands for Nancy Hacking Creation Construction">nybi.cc</acronym> (within which I am taking part to the <acronym title="Computer Science In Real Life">CSIRL</acronym> / <acronym title="Sciences Manuelles du Numérique, which stands for Digital Manual Sciences">SMN</acronym> project, with <a href="http://www.loria.fr/~quinson/">Martin Quinson</a>).

  40. <h3>CSIRL - Computer Science In Real Life</h3>
  41. <p style="text-align:justify">
  42. The <acronym title="Computer Science In Real Life">CSIRL</acronym> project
  43. aims to popularize computer science and to initiate children schoolboys,
  44. high school students and non-scientists into this domain. Our goal is to
  45. show that computer science cannot be summed up as computers and that it is
  46. a full-fledged science. In this project, <a href="http://www.loria.fr/~quinson/">Martin Quinson</a> and I are developing activities which
  47. allow discovering a part of computer science without any use of computer.
  48. We are developing this project with the <acronym title="NancY BIdouille Création Construction, which stands for Nancy Hacking Creation Construction">nybi.cc</acronym> association.
  49. Although it is still in development, this project has already been tested at <acronym title="Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique, which stands for National Research Institute in Computer Science and Automatic">INRIA</acronym> on the occasion of high school students welcome at

  61. <acronym title="Lorraine Data Network">LDN</acronym> is an association for
  62. the defense of a free (as in "free speech"), neutral and decentralized
  63. Internet. Its main goal is also to be a public, associative,
  64. citizen and Lorraine-dedicated <acronym title="Internet Service Provider">ISP</acronym>.

  76. <acronym title="NancY BIdouille Création Construction, which stands for Nancy Hacking Creation Construction">Nybi.cc</acronym> is a <i>makerspace</i> ("creation and fabrication space", between <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackerspace">hackerspace</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fab_lab">fablab</a>) near Nancy. We aim the knowledge and means of production sharing: everybody is free to use tools to experiment, to learn and to build. The association is open to all.
